Baby High Chairs - What Options Do You Need?
Executive summary about Baby High Chair By Ned D’Agostino

When new parents are looking at all of the things they must have for their child, baby high chairs are near the top of the list. There are so many different options out there, it can be confusing wondering which features are must haves and which are simply optional. Here’s what to look for in a high chair.

Safety features are obviously very important. You should look for a chair with a wide base for the greatest stability. It should have a low center of gravity to minimize the chance of tipping over. Once a baby is old enough to need one, they are strong enough to do all sorts of things to unbalance a chair, and should never be left alone while in their high chair.

Invest in a high chair that has good safety straps. A five point harness is the safest choice, but some parents find them cumbersome. The basic straps should include a crotch strap that is used in conjunction with the waist strap. This ensures that the baby does not slip through the bottom and become entangled in the straps. Don’t rely on just the tray to keep your child safe.

Comfort is important, but being easily washed is also. Check the cleaning instructions for the pad and make sure it is machine washable. Trust me, you will be glad that it is the first time your precious little one dumps strained peas in their lap!

Many on the market today offer options like attachable toys to keep baby entertained. These are actually very helpful. Babies are easily bored, so having something fun for them to play with will allow everyone else at the table to enjoy their meal in peace. It can also entertain a hungry child while dinner is being prepared.

Baby Bjorn

A Baby Carrier For Active People - Baby Bjorn Active Carrier Review
Executive summary about Baby Bjorn by B Summoy

The manufacturers state that the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier (also known as BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Active) has been developed especially for parents on the move. I have examined the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier in what I believe are four crucial areas in an attempt to ascertain whether it is indeed a baby carrier for active people. The four areas I have examined are:

  • Support - how much support it offers to baby and wearer
  • Comfort - how comfortable it is
  • Ease of use - how easy it is use and put on and take off
  • Quality - the overall quality and build of the carrier

Support

The biggest complaint about most versions of baby carriers is that they cause back and shoulder aches. Therefore one of the most important aspects of any baby carrier is the amount of support it gives to both parents. In this respect the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier will not let you down. It has excellent back and shoulder support even if you have back problems or a big baby! The lumbar support and cushioned double position strap system distributes the baby’s weight evenly, away from shoulders. This makes the carrier excellent choice for taller and bigger parents. In order to get the benefit from these features however, I advise that you read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.

Comfort

While the extra support features on the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier certainly add up to a very comfortable experience for the more active parent, the comfort of the baby has not been forgotten. Newborn babies can be placed in the carrier facing inward using the padded, adjustable head support to keep them stable, while older babies face outward with the head support folded down in front of them. The unique design supposedly permits the breastfeeding of the baby discreetly. However, in practice this is very difficult to do. A nice little feature is the addition of a front piece that can be easily removed so as not to wake a soundly sleeping baby when taking off the carrier. Also, you can alter the height of the seat into multiple positions which is very good for growing babies.
